HERTL (Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader) – Training Course ONLINE

Purpose

This training programme is designed for personnel who are appointed or preparing to undertake the role of Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL). It focuses on the importance of emergency preparedness, effective pre-planning, and the ability to lead and coordinate a timely, appropriate response to a range of helideck and helicopter-related emergencies. Participants will develop the knowledge and leadership skills required to make informed decisions, coordinate emergency response activities, and help protect personnel, assets, and the environment. This is an independent training designed to follow OPITO framework (not OPITO approved).

Objectives

Participants will gain an understanding of the key requirements, procedures, and responsibilities associated with the helideck emergency response plan. The course covers the identification of potential helideck emergencies, emergency firefighting procedures, team roles and responsibilities, leadership and command techniques, and the coordination of search and rescue operations. It also addresses emergency scenarios involving Normally Unattended Installations (NUIs), with an emphasis on effective communication, sound decision-making, team coordination, and the implementation of appropriate emergency response procedures.

Evaluation

All participants have to complete a questionnaire and pass series of emergency scenarios in order to obtain the certificate.

Certification – Diploma

All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with validity of two years in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
