CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing Systems) – Training Course ONLINE

Registration

Purpose

In the event of a helicopter emergency ditching or submersion, the correct use of a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) can provide a valuable additional source of breathing air, extending the time available for underwater escape. Helicopter ditching incidents have highlighted the importance of appropriate emergency breathing equipment and effective escape techniques in improving the chances of survival during underwater evacuation. This is an independent training designed to follow OPITO framework (not OPITO approved).

Content

  • CA-EBS technical properties
  • CA-EBS difference between rebreather and hybrid rebreather
  • Pre-flight inspection
  • Proper use of CA-EBS

  • CA-EBS limitations
  • CA-EBS positive & negative characteristics
  • Associated hazards with CA-EBS
  • CA-EBS checks & maintenance

Objectives

This course is designed to educate participants on the correct use of CA-EBS during helicopter ditching and water ingress emergencies. Participants will learn the system's operating principles, limitations, and associated hazards, as well as the importance of proper preparation, timely activation, and controlled breathing to make the available air supply last as long as possible during an underwater escape. The course emphasizes the importance of following established safety procedures and practical training to improve preparedness and increase the likelihood of a safe escape.
