HDA (Helideck Assistant) – Training Course ONLINE

Purpose

The primary role of a Helideck Assistant (HDA) is to support the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) in daily helideck operations. These duties may include inspecting and checking helideck equipment, assisting with passenger embarkation and disembarkation, handling cargo and baggage, supporting helicopter refuelling operations, and responding appropriately to emergency situations. This training course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out HDA responsibilities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and industry best practices. This is an independent training designed to follow OPITO framework (not OPITO approved).

Objectives

Participants will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of a Helideck Assistant effectively. The course covers helicopter landing and take-off operations, helideck safety procedures, personnel and passenger safety, emergency duties and response scenarios, dangerous goods handling, helicopter refuelling procedures, communication protocols and standard hand signals, and the identification and management of potential helideck hazards. Particular emphasis is placed on safe working practices, effective teamwork, and supporting the HLO in maintaining safe and efficient helideck operations.

Evaluation

All participants have to complete a questionnaire and several exercises in order to obtain the certificate.

Certification – Diploma

All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with three years validity in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
