HOIT Training (Helideck Operations Initial Training) – Course ONLINE

Purpose

The Offshore Helideck Operations Initial Training (HOIT) programme is designed for personnel who are preparing to undertake the roles of Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and/or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA). This foundational training course introduces participants to routine offshore helideck operations and a range of potential helideck and helicopter emergency scenarios. It provides an essential understanding of the procedures, safety requirements, and operational practices necessary to support safe and efficient offshore helicopter operations. This is an independent training designed to follow OPITO framework (not OPITO approved).

Objectives

The aim of the HOIT programme is to equip participants with the initial knowledge, understanding, and practical skills required to perform the duties of an Offshore HLO and/or HDA safely and effectively. The course focuses on the roles and responsibilities associated with each position, routine helideck operations, personnel and passenger safety, communication procedures, and emergency preparedness. Particular emphasis is placed on following established procedures, identifying potential hazards, and responding appropriately to operational and emergency situations.

Evaluation

All participants have to complete a questionnaire and several exercises in order to obtain the certificate.

Certification – Diploma

All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with unlimited validity in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
