BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) with MIST – Course

Purpose

This course is designed to provide the initial onshore safety and emergency response training and assessment requirements for personnel, new entrants to the offshore industry. Participants will achieve a fundamental level of knowledge and alertness of the hazards when working on offshore rigs or other vessels.

The training course is a combination of theoretical and practical teaching; participants will be required to show the level of knowledge and awareness of the programme presented.

Offshore workers (mostly seamen) who possess Basic Training Certificate as per STCW VI/1 need only HUET in order to fly by helicopter to offshore rig or ship. This training course is designed to be only in line with OPITO.

Content

The course will cover the following topics:

Safety induction
Sea Survival
Fire Fighting & Self Rescue
Offshore hazards and safety
First Aid
MIST
Hypothermia
HUET/ helicopter safety

Objectives

This training is designed to provide participants with a essential understanding of safety and emergency response methods while working on offshore rigs – ships. Many survival techniques and safety offshore culture (including helicopter underwater escape) will be explained through the training.

Conditions for participation

Participants in this course must have a medical certificate that is fit to participate in this training and to sign self declaration medical form.

Evaluation

All participants have to make at least three unassisted escapes-egresses from the helicopter capsule-simulator and to complete a questionnaire in order to obtain the certificate.

Certification – Diploma

All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with validity of four years in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
