FOET Training (Further Offshore Emergency Training) – Course

Purpose

This course is designed to enhance offshore safety awareness and further extend emergency response skills for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry, particularly those who may be required to use a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) during helicopter transportation. The course focuses on preparing participants to respond effectively to emergency situations, including helicopter ditching and underwater escape. This is an independent training designed to follow OPITO framework (not OPITO approved).

Objectives

This training provides participants with additional demonstrations and practical exercises in emergency response, particularly for those who have limited opportunities to practise these skills during routine offshore drills and training sessions. Participants will develop their ability to perform basic first aid, apply appropriate firefighting techniques in various fire scenarios, and execute helicopter underwater escape procedures using CA-EBS where applicable. The overall objective is to strengthen practical competence, improve emergency preparedness, and increase participants’ confidence in responding safely and effectively to critical offshore emergencies.

Participants in this course must have a medical certificate that are fit to participate in this training and to sign self declaration medical form.

Evaluation

All participants have to make at least three unassisted escapes-egresses from the helicopter capsule-simulator and to complete a questionnaire in order to obtain the certificate.

Certification – Diploma

All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with validity of four years in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
