Purpose

This course is designed for all personnel and crew who are involved with lifting equipment offshore and onshore. Inspection of lifting gear is of a high importance for keeping safe lifting operations at the required levels. Negligence or improper inspection on lifting gear can have big impacts on incidents / accidents occurrence.

Types of lifting equipment (shackles, slings, chain hoists etc.)
Inspection & test report of lifting equipment
Test frequency requirements
Color coding
Discard criteria (quarantine & scrapping)
Maintenance of lifting equipment
Safe use of lifting equipment
Best practices

Objectives

Participants will be able to adequately execute thorough inspection on lifting equipment and gears (routine or unscheduled). Will be able to spot malfunctions on lifting equipment / gear, quarantine lifting equipment, how to apply timely maintenance and best practices for longevity of equipment.
