These operations present significant hazards, including line failure, snap-back incidents, and other potentially life-threatening situations. Following established procedures and applying safe mooring practices are essential to preventing accidents, protecting personnel, and ensuring that mooring activities are carried out efficiently. This course highlights the principal risks associated with mooring operations and explains the safety measures required to minimise the likelihood of incidents and injuries.

Objectives
Participants will develop the knowledge and skills required to perform mooring operations safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures and industry best practices. The course covers hazard identification, safe working positions, correct handling of mooring lines and equipment, and awareness of snap-back zones and other dangerous areas. Participants will also learn the importance of effective communication, situational awareness, and teamwork during mooring activities. Particular emphasis is placed on the appropriate use of Stop Work Authority, empowering personnel to stop any operation that presents an unacceptable risk to themselves or others.
