Awareness of workplace vibration hazards is sometimes overlooked, despite the potential harmful effects of prolonged or excessive exposure on personnel. Equipment and machinery that generate vibration can contribute to occupational health problems, particularly when exposure exceeds recommended or legally established limits. Understanding these risks and implementing appropriate control measures are essential to protecting workers’ health, preventing work-related injuries, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Objectives

The main objective of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge required to recognise, assess, and manage the risks associated with occupational vibration exposure. Participants will learn about the potential health effects of hand-arm vibration and whole-body vibration, as well as appropriate methods for assessing exposure and applying preventive measures. The course also covers safe working practices, equipment selection and maintenance, exposure monitoring, and strategies for reducing vibration-related risks. Particular emphasis is placed on preventing conditions such as hand-arm vibration syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome, reducing the risk of whole-body vibration-related health effects, and ensuring compliance with applicable exposure limits and safety requirements.
