HLO Training (Helicopter Landing Officer) – Training Course ONLINE

Purpose

The Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) Course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to supervise routine offshore helideck operations and coordinate appropriate responses to helideck emergencies. The training introduces the operational practices, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements essential for organising and overseeing safe, efficient, and well-coordinated helicopter operations in offshore and other marine environments. This is an independent training designed to follow OPITO framework (not OPITO approved).

Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants will develop the knowledge and practical competence required to perform the duties of a Helicopter Landing Officer. Topics include helideck operations, emergency response procedures, the use of firefighting and fire-protection equipment, safe helicopter refuelling operations where applicable, communication protocols and standard hand signals, and the safe handling of cargo and dangerous goods. Particular emphasis is placed on hazard identification, coordination with helicopter crews and other personnel, adherence to established procedures, and maintaining a high level of safety throughout all helideck activities.

Evaluation

All participants have to complete a questionnaire and several exercises in order to obtain the certificate.

Certification – Diploma

All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with validity of three years in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
